    Bounty 71

    • Origin and Characteristics: Bounty 71 is a rootstock of New Zealand origin, derived from a seedling of Actinidia polygama. Used for more than 15 years, it is distinguished by a taproot system that penetrates deep into the soil, offering better resistance to heavy, poorly drained soils and excess water.
    • Benefits for production:
      • Increased yield and dry matter of fruit.
      • Improved flowering, leading to larger fruit.
      • Good compatibility with the main commercial kiwi varieties (Hayward, Gold, M33, M91, Chieftain).
      • Early fruit ripening.
      • Lower color angle and better fruit consistency.
    • Disease resistance:
      • Commercial tolerance to Psa ( Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae ).
      • Good resistance to waterlogged soils and "wet feet" conditions.
      • Promising results against kiwi decline syndrome (moria).
    • Use and Availability: Available since 2019 in different formats (peat or coconut fiber pots, grafted or not). Particularly suitable for double planting.
    • Grafting Techniques: Shield grafting (low trauma) or veneer grafting. Cleft or inlay grafting (March-April) or dormant bud grafting (mid-July to early September). Stems must reach a diameter of 2.5 mm before grafting.
    • Limits of resistance: Effectiveness varies depending on the grafted varieties, better for yellow and red fleshed kiwis than for green ones (Hayward).

    • Origin and Characteristics: Roki, also known as Viola TM or Ro.Ki.1, is a new rootstock. It has a lush taproot system that is resistant to water pressure and stagnation.
